This railroad was built through this county from east to west in the early seventies and has proven the great civilizer and developer for many miles on both sides. Van Zandt has shared fully in this benefit. Mr. Weeks became identified with the T. and P. in 1883. He has lost no time from sickness and is now a robust, active, wide-awake man, who takes a broad view of things. He has saved his earnings and has considerable business interests along the road. He likes Grand Saline and has erected an elegant new brick store house and has recently purchased the elegant residence represented above. December 19, 1893, he married Miss Agnes Ponder, of Mississippi. They have two children, a boy, Marshall, and a girl, Little Fern. They have lived much on a residence car and enjoy life. Mr. Weeks is an active, wide-awake business man and looks well to the development of the county and should he decide to engage in business in Grand Saline will be quite a valuable acquisition to the town.
